THE WOMEN WING OF JOINT FAITH PEACE INITIATIVE WOMEN
ACROSS FAITH
The women’s wing of the Joint Faith Peace Initiative of Nigeria is perhaps her most vibrant and emphatic statement as Nigeria’s foremost Peace Building Institution. This is quite understandable as
women are naturally the stabilizing factor in any human community or family unit. The women is also the first in line of hurt and pain should a breach of the peace occur and being such a natural protector and care giver, the organization is rewarded immensely by the effusive enthusiasm of its women’s wing whose activities continually pool more and more women – which owing to the same hereby reasons, is hardly surprising.
The Women Across Faith works to engineer public peace and harmonic co-existence through deliberate mutual contact activities between Christian and Muslim women after the first due and considerate
empowerment of all her women members. The primary basis of Women Across Faith’s women empowerment module is the conscientious effort put into making all women members better wives
of their husbands, mothers of their children, providers for their families and champions of household peace and productivity.
This is basically charity beginning in the home. Thereafter, the necessary lessons of exemplary cordiality between Christian and Muslim women is taught and demonstrated as components of the organization overall Peace Advocacy Measure. In order to better achieve this, all WOMEN of FAITH learn the practice of OPEN, HONEST and SINCERE sisterly LOVE between one another. The JFPI advances the modality of pairing SISTERS of FAITH across Faith so that their cordiality is immediately observed by all and emulated thereby.
It is a known fact that, in every great success of a man there must be a woman behind him. And though men are known as the head, without a very strong neck, the head can carry nothing.
Women are known as the conscience of the nation, the catalyst for change and reconciliation, the teachers of ethics and good character, the surviving factors of the society, the partners in progress, the
citizens and community mobilizers to mention but a few. No wonder the success of our dear nation before now had been so backward because the potential of the women folks amongst us was grossly
underlisted.

We have come to a very auspicious time in the history of our dear nation that we must all understand the power and passion of a religious woman. Women are known for peace not war, and in times like this, we have major roles to play in our dear nation, most especially, we all stand the chance of bringing sanity and peace to the society by prevailing on our husbands, children and brothers to promote peace in the place of anarchy. Therefore, this initiative will help to deliver our dear nation from the hands of religious fanatics, ethnic-jingoism, political thuggery and confusion among, many others.
Objectives:
The following constitute the Objectives of Women Across Faith:
1) To reach out to our teeming women population, sensitize and woo them to join the nationwide crusade for Peace Across all Faith, ethnic divide in addition to the realization of the Change Advocacy Programmes of Mr. President, which protection of lives and properties are the priority.
2) To reposition women in Nigeria for more responsive and
impactful peaceful intervention in affairs of the home, public and in
governance (knowing the ease with which women and children have
become targets of violent crime in Nigeria of recent, of which example
multiple abound).
3) Review of the overall situation to determine the nature and criteria of advising Government on how best women can be engaged as Mediators, Councilors, Negotiators and faith builders as deliberate intervention of Government in the worsening security indices in Nigeria at all levels.
4) To harmonise the discus and perception of Peaceful Co-existence as a primary requirement of societal peace building amongst Women, Mothers, Wives and Sisters across Faith.
5) To mutually draw the lines of sisterly relationship in all the ways that promote community, enhance individual and group productivity and strengthens families through mutual empowerment, skills development and other socio – economic enhancements
6) Broadening the scope of the Members appreciation of their roles and functions in their immediate and remote communities so as to make women better advisers of both their husbands and other people that they work or deal with variously
7) To organize business capacity sessions that open new streams of incomes to members as ways of strengthening families and of reducing the burdens of bringing up children and other essential family demands
8) To collaborate with Governments at all levels in eradicating poverty and illiteracy amongst women and the vulnerable population
9) To Educate women to become better adherents of their respective religions through deliberate and the concise training of Members using only well experienced and seasoned older women as
mentors
10) To promote business apprenticeship/mentorship amongst women who desire to enter into businesses to empower themselves and strengthen their families further
11) To advance members as agents of the JFPI’s Gender Mainstreaming Advocacy and build them into champions of Civility, Restrain, Respect, Responsibility and of Community
12) To engage in group Inter – Faith or Cross Faith Prayers for both Nigeria and her leaders as ways to further demonstrate the viability of inter-Religious cordiality and of engineering Peace in Nigeria
13) To collaborate with Governmental and development partnership Organisations and Institutions in and outside Nigeria for the purpose of enhancing the logical programmes of Governments and others that
benefit Women, Children and the vulnerable population.
